Install a Router (Windows Vista)

Your router must be turned on and your computer must be equipped with an Ethernet card.

>> STEP 1/5
When your computer is not connected to a network or Ethernet modem, Not Connected is displayed as the network icon in the task bar.

>> STEP 2/5
Connect the Ethernet cable to the computer and modem and wait.

>> STEP 3/5
The following screen asks you to select the profile that corresponds to the location of your connection: private (home or office) or public. Windows Vista will then set the security parameters, as a connection in a public place requires greater security than one of a private nature.

>> STEP 4/5
If a UAC (User Account Control) warning window appears, click on Continue.

>> STEP 5/5
Click on Close.

The network icon in the taskbar must indicate that the Ethernet connection between the computer and the modem is established:

The router has been installed.
